  • Primetime Buddy

A friend of mine, Baz Squirrel was one of the first buddies for Mytime.  Baz was telling me about her buddy role and said I would love it as I like helping, and chatting to people.  I arranged an interview with Ann Wilbourn who explained what the role involved and accepted me as a new buddy, I gave my notice at the Bank and started buddying as soon as I left the bank, I have now been a buddy since July 2013.  Primetime buddies offer help, support and information to encourage an active and positive lifestyle,  we are an approachable, friendly, welcoming face for Primetime and the first face people see when they come into the centre.  We also help the instructor if they require any assistance and check the listing of members for classes to ensure all attendances are booked.  We also keep a look out for anyone who is unwell and may need some help or anyone struggling in the class.  Being a buddy is one of the best things I have ever done, I feel that I am doing a worthwhile job and get a lot of satisfaction., what the buddies give to the members we receive back.  I know our Primetime members all appreciate the buddies.  We do receive a lot of thanks and support.  I have worked in banking for over 30 years, and although I have a lot of friends who I still see, but there is something about Primetime people, they are not just members but family,  we all look out for each other, if anyone has a problem everyone is there for them.  A lot of prime timers live on their own, but they are not on their own, as we are all there for each other. The buddies all work well together as a team, we support each other, and we are lucky we have an excellent manager with Ann Wilbourn, who provides us with help and support, I know if I have a problem Ann always has the time to listen and advice. I love wearing my uniform and feel proud to be a buddy, so many people come up to me when I am out and about and ask what I do.  I always carry copies of our timetables with me as quite often people will ask about the classes.I even had a man in a car today that went past and shouted out “Hey Buddy, can you help me” 😂
